Jagmeet Singh: The Rising Star in Canadian Politics

When Jagmeet Singh first entered the Canadian political scene in 2011, no one could have predicted the meteoric rise he would experience in just a few short years. Born in Scarborough, Ontario to immigrant parents from Punjab, India, Singh faced discrimination and challenges growing up, but he never let it stop him from pursuing his dreams. He obtained a law degree from York University and worked as a criminal defense lawyer before deciding to run for office, inspired by his desire to create positive change in his community.

Singh’s charisma, eloquence, and progressive policies quickly made him a crowd favorite. In 2017, he became the first person of color to lead a major federal political party in Canada when he was elected as the leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP). He also made history as the first turban-wearing Sikh to sit as a provincial legislator in Ontario. His popularity and impact continue to grow, with his strong stances on issues such as climate change, affordable housing, and Indigenous rights resonating with Canadians across the country. With the next federal election approaching in 2021, all eyes are on Jagmeet Singh, eagerly awaiting to see where his political journey will take him next.
